2. freedom from disquieting or oppressive thoughts or emotions

shanti    शान्ति

a state of being mentally and spiritually at peace, with enough knowledge and understanding to keep oneself strong in the face of discord or stress

Peace is not the absence of chaos or conflict,
it is finding yourself in the midst of the chaos
and remaining calm in your heart.
~Javier Ponce

Life will always have fluctuations - how we deal with them, how we whether the storm is dependent on how we connect to ourself. Our practices are tools to help us find that steadiness, to connect to our center, to a place where feel at ease, at peace even when there are challenges, frustrations or excitements. Each time I step onto mat it is a practice that helps me to to find peace. How I still the fluctuations in my body, in my mind when I am on one leg or balancing on my hands  is the experience that stays with me when I am off my mat and trying to find the peace.

Angel Card Jan 2, 2015 - Play

play
/plā/

verb
1. engage in activity for enjoyment and recreation rather than a serious or practical purpose.
2. take part in (a sport).

Noun
1. activity engaged in for enjoyment and recreation, especially by children
2. the space in or through which a mechanism can or does move

So often I (we) think of play in terms of children. This was reinforced as I read different definitions and most of them sited that it is an activity for children. In Sanskrit,  the word for play is lila (or leela) and very curiously I didn't find any references to lila and children.

lila    लीला

certain sweet and playful goodness that characterizes a universe whose essential nature is Shakti (the powerful, energetic principle).

How can we/I incorporate both play lila into my daily life?

To do something each day for the shear sake of enjoyment?

To engage with, connect and remember the essential nature of the universe - the sweetness, the goodness  of Shakti
